How to use the UUID Generator

  1. 1

    Choose a version: v4 (random) or v7 (time-ordered).

  2. 2

Set how many UUIDs you need, from 1 to 1,000.

  3. 3

Pick formatting options such as uppercase, no hyphens or braces.

  4. 4

Click “Generate”, then copy the list or download it as a text file.

Features & benefits

  • Cryptographically secure

Uses the Web Crypto API, the same source of randomness used for encryption keys.

  • UUID v7 support

Time-ordered IDs that sort chronologically and index efficiently in databases.

  • Bulk generation

Create up to 1,000 identifiers in one click.

  • Flexible formatting

Uppercase, hyphen-free and {braced} formats for different languages and systems.

UUID v4 vs v7

A UUID is a 128-bit number usually written as 32 hexadecimal digits in five groups, like 3f2b8c1e-9d4a-4f6b-8a2e-7c1d5e9f0a3b. Version 4 fills 122 of those bits with random data, making a collision so unlikely that you could generate a billion per second for decades without expecting one.

Version 7, standardised in RFC 9562, places a millisecond timestamp in the first 48 bits followed by random data. Because new IDs are always larger than older ones, they keep database indexes compact and fast — a big advantage over random v4 keys in large tables.

Frequently asked questions

Are these UUIDs truly unique?

They are random enough that a duplicate is practically impossible. No central registry is needed.

Can I use UUID v7 as a database primary key?

Yes. v7 is designed for that: it's sortable by creation time, which reduces index fragmentation compared with v4.

Are generated UUIDs logged?

No. They are created in your browser and never sent to or stored on our servers.
